FAQ
Will Clearcam work on my computer?
As long as your computer can run Python, FFmpeg, and tinygrad, it should run fine. A M-series Mac is recommended if unsure.
Will Clearcam work with my camera setup?
If your cameras use RTSP it will, you just need to be on the same network.
Do I need to pay for Clearcam?
The only paid features are mobile notifications and remote viewing via the iOS and Android apps as these require use of our servers and cloud storage. The software is free and can be configured to use any server if you have the means.
Why not Frigate?
Frigate has a much longer setup time and is most well suited for cheap hardware, CPU inference, and API integrations.
Clearcam aims to be simpler to use, while harnessing local GPU compute more effectively.
I already use Hik-Connect, can I use Clearcam at the same time?
Yes, your NVR will continue to function, this is recommended for redundancy.
Can I use my iPhone as the camera and detector?
Yes! Download the iOS app, click the camera on the top left, start recoding, view over Wi-Fi or remotely with Premium.
